Designing for Emotion: How to Connect with Users

People remember how products make them feel.
Usability gets people through a task, but emotion is what makes them come back. The products we love feel thoughtful, a little delightful, and always respectful of our time.
Design for the moments that matter.
A friendly empty state, a reassuring confirmation or a small celebration when someone finishes a task can turn a routine interaction into a memorable one.
Start by mapping the emotional highs and lows of your user’s journey. Where do they feel anxious, confused or proud? Use tone of voice, motion and visual feedback to reduce stress at the low points and reward progress at the high ones.
Emotional design isn’t about adding decoration. It’s about empathy: understanding people well enough to anticipate how they’ll feel, and designing every detail with that in mind.
