10 Tips for Elevating Your Design Game

Small habits, big improvements.
Great design rarely comes from one big idea. It comes from dozens of small, deliberate choices made well. Here are the habits we rely on to keep our work sharp, from the first sketch to the final handoff.
Start with the problem, not the pixels.
Before opening a design tool, write one sentence that describes what the user needs to achieve. If you can’t, you’re not ready to design yet.
Keep a swipe file of work you admire and study why it works. Limit yourself to a small set of type sizes and colors. Design with real content instead of placeholder text, and test early with people who have never seen your work.
Most importantly, leave time to step away. Fresh eyes catch problems that hours of staring never will. Come back, simplify, and remove anything that isn’t helping the user.
